I went to the Dollar Tree
To get my shopping fix
And what I put in my shopping cart
Was quite an eclectic mix
The ice cream scoop, the candy bars
The note cards, (packs of three)
The hair nets, the cheese balls
The Christmas wrap, so merry
There were plastic flowers, plastic buckets
Plastic cups, (times four)
Paper napkins, paper bowls
Party hats and more
Candles, crafts and cookie cutters
I wasn’t keeping score
When I went through the checkout
With my treasures, I passed up the after shave
I smiled to myself, and felt so proud
For all of the money I'd saved!
Ha ha ha! Next time, remember a red plastic spatula, a jigsaw puzzle, and a bottle of handwash that smells like overripe pineapples! Dollar Tree, the rabbit-hole of retail therapy.
