Angel In The Tunnel
She knew her son was in danger, in a deep intuitive way, where the invisible cord still remains.
Driving way too fast for his reflexes. Blind with the combination of meth and bourbon, and high on false confidence, he didn’t know what lay ahead in the road. The tunnel fast approaching, just beyond the curve. He was fish-tailing out of control, and slid into the lights, sideways. This would be the end of his life…
In the City, a mother woke up, calling her son’s name. Desperation and fear shook her awake, every rapid heartbeat a painful blow to her chest. She knew her son was in danger, in a deep intuitive way, where the invisible cord still remains. Please, Lord, please keep him safe!
Just before he slammed into the wall, a miracle snatched him awake. His name rang out in his head. He hit the brakes hard, and came to a screeching halt. It was then he saw the angel swoop over his car, and depart through the tunnel’s exit.
What a moving tale of motherhood, Sharon. That invisible cord does remain-- forever. And it is palpable. I was just thinking of my boy, who is setting out on a 10-day road trip this morning, and wrapping him in protecting wings. A beautiful story - so much expressed in so few words.
Oh gosh, such a powerful post about the power of that deep connection, Sharon. Wonderful.
